4.3 When to use AgarStart™ alone vs in sequence

AgarStart™: Standalone vs Sequential Use in BarIno™ Induction – Optimizing Tree Readiness and Resin Formation

AgarStart™ is a chemical/abiotic priming agent designed to activate the tree’s defense pathways and prepare it for subsequent resin induction. Its use can be standalone or part of a multi-phase sequence depending on tree maturity, DBH, and production goals.

1. AgarStart™ Alone

Use Case:

  • Trees are immature or DBH at lower threshold (10–14 cm)
  • Early-stage stress priming without introducing Fusarium
  • Focus is tree readiness and cambial activation rather than immediate resin production

Benefits:

  • Prepares cambium for future induction cycles
  • Minimizes stress on small trees
  • Reduces risk of over-infection from biotic agents
  • Supports gradual tree conditioning

Typical Scenario:

  • Young plantation trees intended for future high-value resin induction
  • Farmer wants low-risk introduction to BarIno™ system

Field Protocol:

  • Apply AgarStart™ at 2–3 cm depth, low density
  • Monitor sap flow, cambium activity, and early stress response
  • No further inoculants applied until DBH / tree readiness criteria are met

2. AgarStart™ in Sequential Induction

Use Case:

  • Trees are mature (DBH ≥ 15–20 cm) and physiologically ready
  • Part of full BarIno™ sequence: AgarStart™ → FusaPrime™ → FusaTrinity™ → FusaBlaze™ / ResinRush™
  • Goal is accelerated, controlled, high-density resin formation

Benefits:

  • Priming enhances tree response to Fusarium and dual induction products
  • Ensures localized defense activation and resin distribution
  • Reduces mortality risk from biotic inoculation
  • Maximizes resin quality, density, and oil content

Field Protocol:

  1. AgarStart™: Activate cambium and oxidative stress signaling
  2. FusaPrime™: Introduce controlled Fusarium colonization
  3. FusaTrinity™ / Harmonia™: Amplify resin production and aromatic complexity
  4. FusaBlaze™ / ResinRush™: Final densification and polymerization

Timing Note:

  • Sequential induction is phased based on tree readiness, DBH, seasonal window, and early resin indicators

3. Decision Guide (Farmer-Friendly)

ConditionRecommended Use
Young tree, DBH < 15 cmAgarStart™ alone (priming only)
Mature tree, DBH ≥ 15 cmAgarStart™ in sequence (full BarIno™ protocol)
Dry season, tree slightly stressedAgarStart™ alone or light dual induction
Wet season, active sap flowSequential induction recommended

Rule of Thumb:

Use AgarStart™ alone to prepare and protect young trees. Use it in sequence to maximize resin yield in mature trees.

4. BarIno™ Principle

AgarStart™ is the tree’s “wake-up call.” Alone, it primes; in sequence, it orchestrates controlled, high-value resin formation.
