For Making Agarwood Fungal Inoculant
WHAT IS THIS METHOD?
This method uses:
- Rice → body & growth space for fungus
- Coconut juice (coconut water) → food & energy booster
Together, they help agarwood fungi grow faster and stronger for field use.
IMPORTANT RULES (READ FIRST)
✅ Use fresh coconut juice only
✅ Work clean and careful
❌ Never use sour or old coconut juice
❌ Do not open containers while growing
❌ Do not mix different fungi
MATERIALS NEEDED
Main Materials
- Rice (white or brown)
- Fresh coconut juice (young coconut preferred)
- Clean water
- Clean fungal starter (from trusted supplier)
Tools
- Pressure cooker or steamer
- Glass bottles or heat-safe plastic bags
- Cotton or clean cloth + rubber band
- Knife or spoon
- Alcohol (70%)
STEP 1: PREPARE RICE + COCONUT JUICE
- Wash rice until water is clear
- Soak rice for 30 minutes, then drain
- Mix cooking liquid:
- 50% clean water
- 50% fresh coconut juice
- Cook rice until:
- Cooked but not soggy
- Grains are separate
💡 Rice must not be wet or sticky
STEP 2: PACK & STERILIZE
- Fill bottles or bags half-full only
- Cover opening with:
- Cotton plug, or
- Clean cloth tied tightly
- Sterilize:
- Pressure cooker: 30–45 minutes
- Steamer: 1 hour
- Let cool completely

STEP 3: ADD THE FUNGUS (CRITICAL STEP)
- Clean hands and tools with alcohol
- Work in clean room (no wind, no dust)
- Cut 5–10 small pieces of fungal starter
- Put pieces into rice container
- Close immediately
- Shake gently
🚫 Do NOT touch fungus with bare hands
STEP 4: INCUBATION (GROWING TIME)
- Place containers in:
- Dark area
- Room temperature
- Do NOT open
- Check outside of container every 2 days
⏳ Growing time: 7–12 days
HOW TO KNOW IT IS READY
✅ Rice fully covered with white fungus
✅ Clean smell (mushroom-like)
❌ THROW AWAY if:
- Green or black mold appears
- Slimy texture
- Bad or sour smell
STEP 5: USE OR STORE
Ways to Use
- Use directly for agarwood inoculation
- Mix with clean water to make liquid inoculant
Storage
- Best used within 2–4 weeks
- Store in cool, shaded place
- Do NOT freeze
