6.2 Best practices for enzymatic application

1. Timing of Application

  • Apply after chemical priming: 1–2 weeks after AgarStart™ / FerroBoost™
  • Apply alongside or just before biotic inoculants (FusaPrime™, Harmonia™) for best synergy
  • Avoid extremely wet or dry periods to prevent enzyme washout or inactivation

Tip: Enzymes work best in actively growing trees with moist tissues, not in dormant or stressed trees.

2. Inoculation Points & Density

  • Number of points: Follow tree DBH guidelines (3–16 points depending on trunk size)
  • Depth: 2–5 cm into xylem, depending on tree size
  • Volume per point: Small, controlled doses (5–15 mL per point)
  • Distribution: Evenly spaced around the trunk, avoiding clustering to prevent local stress

3. Preparation & Handling

  • Mix carefully in clean water (follow label dilution instructions)
  • Use dedicated tools and containers to avoid contamination
  • Wear PPE: gloves, mask, goggles, long sleeves, closed shoes
  • Do not mix with untested chemicals, fertilizers, or other microbes

4. Application Method

  • Injection / drilling method: Deliver enzyme solution directly into xylem
  • Ensure tight sealing of inoculation holes to prevent leakage
  • Apply slowly and evenly to allow absorption
  • Avoid over-application—too much enzyme can stress the tree

5. Post-Application Care

  • Monitor resin formation weekly or monthly
  • Avoid heavy irrigation or rainfall immediately after application
  • Record application date, inoculant, and tree details for traceability
  • Follow up with biotic inoculants if part of a dual or multi-step system

6. Environmental & Safety Considerations

  • Store enzyme in cool, shaded, dry place
  • Do not expose to direct sunlight for long periods
  • Dispose of leftover enzyme solution safely, avoid water sources
  • Keep away from children and livestock

7. Farmer-Friendly Summary

“Apply enzymes after priming chemicals, inject carefully into healthy trees, and let them open pathways for resin and fungi to do their job.”
